Acupuncture is a method of inserting very fine needles in certain designated points along the channels or "meridians" mapped on the body, through which life force or energy flows. There is an unceasing flow of life energy or "Qi" throughout the body. When the energy is smooth and in balance, one is healthy; and if the balance gets disturbed, then one becomes ill or feels pain. Through acupuncture points the energy flow can be stimulated and function of all organs can be regulated.Acupuncture is generally painless and any discomfort one may feel is usually very mild. Sterile disposable needles are left in place for 15 to 30 minutes dependingon individual diagnosis, different physical condition and energy level.

Acupuncture Mechanism
According to biochemical and neurological research, acupuncture works by activation of natural pain-suppression system in brain. Substantial evidence demonstrates that acupuncture stimulates the release of endogenous morphine called endorphin, which in turn mediates the analgesic affect. Acupuncture has an obvious effect of stimulating or strengthening patient's immune system, which in turn mobilizes the natural defense power inside human body. This reaction is the major mechanism of anti-inflammatory and anti-infectious effects induced by acupuncture. It's very interesting to knowthat this kind of adjustment in biphasic in nature. Acupuncture can reduce blood pressure in case of hypertension or elevate blood in case of hypotension. Also acupuncture is very effective in many psychosomatic disorders. Just like any other
medicine, not all cases can be cured, but there are no harmful effects from therapy.

How Many Treatments?
Each treatment plan in individualized and depends on the type of illness, the severity
of the condition, the duration of the sickness and the physical state of patient at
time of treatment. A course of treatment usually takes anywhere between ten to
twenty sessions, however chronic cases usually need longer treatments.
In order to get best therapeutic results, acute cases should be treated every other
day for few sessions, followed by prolonged intervals.
